PROJECT OVERVIEW
The San Bernardino Community College District (SBCCD) Allied Health Pathway Program project is designed to expand equitable access to healthcare education and career opportunities by strengthening connections between K–12 schools, community colleges, universities, and regional healthcare partners. Through collaborations with San Bernardino Valley College, Crafton Hills College, Rialto Unified School District, Pacific High School, and community organizations, the project creates opportunities for students to explore healthcare professions, gain practical experience, and prepare for postsecondary education and employment in high-demand healthcare fields.
The project focuses on developing and expanding pathways in nursing, pharmacy technology, emergency medical services, and other allied health professions through dual enrollment, career exploration, hands-on learning, and academic support. Students benefit from college and university visits, healthcare career presentations, industry engagement, and opportunities to develop technical skills aligned with workforce expectations. The initiative also emphasizes removing barriers for historically underserved students through targeted outreach, mentorship, and partnerships that promote greater participation in healthcare education.
By aligning high school coursework with community college programs and strengthening connections to regional healthcare employers, the project aims to create more accessible transitions from secondary education into college, industry-recognized credentials, and healthcare careers. These coordinated efforts contribute to developing a diverse and skilled healthcare workforce while expanding educational and economic opportunities for students throughout the Inland Empire.
Recovery with Equity Strategies: Cultivate inclusive, engaging and equity-oriented learning environments; Retain students through inclusive support; Provide high-tech, high touch advising; Support college preparation and early credit
“By providing students with hands-on healthcare experiences, early college opportunities, and direct connections to industry professionals, we are helping them see a future for themselves in healthcare.”
