Streamlining Educational Pathways and Reducing Inequities

The new California Regional K-16 Education Collaboratives Grant Program aims to help California’s economy recover from the COVID-19 pandemic while addressing long-standing social and economic inequities in higher education and workforce participation. The program is made possible by a $250 million appropriation to the Department of General Services (DGS) in the Budget Act of 2021.

The Inland Empire Regional K-16 Education Collaborative is made possible through existing regional partnerships which include K-12 Districts, 2-Year Community College Districts, 4-Year non-profit Secondary Institutions, and Workforce Partners. Its governance is made up of three primary agencies:

The Steering Committee serves as the Executive Leadership Team and consists of K-16 partners and workforce leaders. The Steering Committee provides final approval on sub-awards based on recommendations made by the Interagency Council.

The Interagency Council serves as the agency between the Steering Committee and the Individual Pathway Workgroups. The Interagency Council is responsible for developing the RFP process, reviewing sub-award applications proposals and making recommendations to the Steering Committee for final approval on funding.

Individual Pathway Workgroups are industry-specific (business, education, engineering, and healthcare) and composed of sub-award grantees who come together to discuss implementation of funded projects.
